So this happened a couple of months ago now, and we have since eaten pretty much the entire half-pig that we bought as “shareholders” from our local Fat Grass Farm friends!
We made mostly sausage and bacon out of these large puppies. Apparently the saws-all really does SAW ALL. I have butchered some mule deer and small game and fish- but this was my first hog slaughter. These puppies were 300 and 400 pounds! Not even in the same ballpark as a deer. Two full days of work for several teams of neighbors/friends. Thanks to Amy and Rob for their amazing generosity and help with all of the equipment.
